Sports

When I was in my teens, I would kayak with my father. We could be seen on Armand Bayou on the weekends back in the late 1970's. We joined the Houston Canoe Club and went on trips around Texas and then got into downriver kayak racing. I have many fond memories of my mom helping pull out kayakers that tipped over on the small waterfalls on the Guadualupe River. We went everywhere, kayaked at the beach in Galveston and Texas City Dike. One precious memory is when my daughter and I paddled out to the Galveston Ferrys at sunset. We had dolphins surrounding us and we just sat and watched them. It was really cool to us.

Now I'm interested in playing softball with my husband, Tim. We've been playing for about six years now and loving it. We joined the Bay Area Senior Softball Association and play games twice a week. It is never too old to get into a sport like softball. If you played in high school or college or other leagues and are over 50 yrs old, come check out our group at Kipper Mease Park on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
